Huey Newsletter March 08

Gday All, Hope all is well in whatever part of the world you happen to be in. Well its been an interesting off season. From earthquakes and floods to gold shops jumping in front of my car at 2 in the morning and a Minang wedding we’ve been keeping busy up here that’s for sure. The boat is in good shape after a few months off. The old girl got her yearly paint job plus we’ve got new aircons throughout the boat, a couple of new fridges for keeping those beers icy cold but the newest addition is the “Peluru Putih”. Translated it means “White Bullet” and that’s exactly what it is. A new 24ft speed boat packing 260Kw of fuel injected grunt capable of 50 knots. That’s around 100kph for those non nautical amongst us. If you’ve ever wanted to nail a big tuna deep sea fishing is now on the agenda for those flat days or if you’re simply bored from being tubed off your head day after day.

 We’ve already finished one charter for the season and it was a clanger. A boat full of mad Scotsman and a couple of token Aussies took the gamble for a Feb charter and it paid off big time. Swell everyday and not a soul to be seen. Felt like a time warp out there, no boats just us and the birds. A couple of memorable sessions went down especially one at a fickle right hander down south that was firing for two days straight. Stevo landed a big Trevally but still didn’t get close to Captain Americas record. Ally blew his knee out on day 6 and Cheggsy was ripping on the guitar with a few Britney covers. All time!!

 Still a couple of spots available for the first half of the season. April 14 has 2 spots and July 7 we’re going north to the Telos, Nias and beyond. There are 4 spots left for this  charter. Hopefully we’ll score some of those legendary right handers on. There’s still new waves to be discovered up there so with the new “Bullet” we’ll be on the pulse.

 Also the trip to Thailand is on 100% so get in early for that. It will sell out fast. 2009 charter dates will be available soon as well.
